Immigration / Investor Visas

Investor Visa Options for Your U.S. Business Plans

Choosing an investor visa starts with what you want to do in the United States. You may plan to run a business, invest toward permanent residence, or expand international trade. Each goal raises different immigration questions.

At LOIGICA, we review your plans, nationality, available capital, and business role. We help you compare E-2 and EB-5 options and assess E-1 when trade is central to your business. You can then explore the service that fits your circumstances.

E2 vs EB5 and your long-term goals

E-2 is a temporary classification tied to a qualifying enterprise. EB-5 is an immigrant category that can lead to permanent residence. An E-2 approval does not automatically become an EB-5 case or a Green Card.

Your preferred role matters too. We discuss how you intend to participate, how much capital you can commit, and your family’s plans. The comparison should help you identify which category deserves a closer review.

Investor visa requirements start

Investor visa requirements start with your circumstances

Before recommending a filing strategy, we need to understand the proposed transaction and your immigration history. Useful starting points include:

✓ Your nationality and any additional citizenships.
✓ Whether you plan to start, purchase, or invest in a business.
✓ The funds available and records explaining their lawful origin.
✓ The proposed ownership structure and your responsibilities.
✓ Your current location, immigration status, and travel plans.
✓ Family members who may accompany you.

If you already have a business proposal, bring it to the discussion. A purchase agreement, operating plan, or project summary helps us ask more specific questions. You do not need a finished application to begin the review.

Connect the business plan with the immigration case

Business decisions and immigration requirements often overlap. A change in ownership, financing, or management may affect the facts supporting your application. We review those connections so the legal documents and immigration evidence tell a consistent story.

For example, a purchase agreement should accurately describe what you are acquiring. The ownership records should match your stated role. Financial documents should explain how funds move into the enterprise.

LOIGICA coordinates immigration planning with relevant corporate work. When appropriate, we also work with your tax, financial, and business advisers. We define the scope of each service before proceeding.

How we help you prepare

Our first discussion focuses on your goal and the questions that could affect eligibility. We identify the category to investigate, the records to gather, and any issues requiring further review.

Depending on the agreed engagement, we can review supporting documents, prepare the immigration filing, and address procedural questions. We also explain which later stages or additional services fall outside the initial scope.

If your business plans change during preparation, tell us before signing new documents or moving additional funds. An updated review can help you understand how the change affects the proposed case.

Plan beyond the initial

Plan beyond the initial application

Ask how the chosen route fits your intended stay, family arrangements, and future business decisions. We discuss the next immigration stages without promising approval or a fixed completion date.

Keep organized records from the start. Corporate documents, financial statements, and evidence of business activity may remain relevant after the first filing. The specific records depend on your category and circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

How much money do I need for an investor visa?

There is no single amount for every category. E-2 assesses whether an investment is substantial in relation to the enterprise. EB-5 has statutory minimum investment amounts. Separate legal fees, filing costs, and business expenses also affect your total budget.

Can buying a business qualify me automatically?

No. A purchase is one part of the assessment. The category’s requirements, the enterprise, your role, and the supporting evidence still matter. Review the proposed transaction before assuming it will support an immigration application.

Does an investor visa give me a Green Card?

EB-5 can lead to permanent residence when all applicable requirements are met. E-2 does not itself provide permanent residence. If a Green Card is your goal, explain that at the beginning of the planning process.

Can my family apply with me?

A spouse and eligible unmarried children under 21 may qualify as accompanying family members. Their applications and available benefits depend on the category and individual circumstances. Include children’s ages and your spouse’s plans in the initial discussion.

Can I choose a visa based only on my budget?

Your budget helps narrow the discussion, but it does not determine eligibility. Nationality, the business or investment, your role, and immigration history also affect the review. We consider these factors together.

How long will the process take?

Timing depends on the category, preparation, government processing, and any applicable visa availability. We review the relevant stages for your case. Avoid relying on a single advertised timeline when making business or relocation commitments.
